Scholarship Information for 2026

Maine East High School Athletic Booster Club Scholarship

The Maine East High School Athletic Booster Club awards scholarships to at least one senior each year. These scholarships support the pursuit of higher education and are not limited to traditional two- or four-year colleges. Trade, technical, and vocational programs (e.g., automotive, cosmetology, etc.) are also eligible.

The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize athletic participation, team contribution, sportsmanship, leadership, and commitment to the Maine East athletic program. Awards are presented at the annual Senior Honors Night.

Eligibility

Applicants must be seniors who meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Participated in a varsity or junior varsity sport

  • Served as a student athletic trainer

  • Served as a team manager

  • Former athlete who has provided extraordinary assistance or support to the Maine East athletic program during senior year

Qualification Criteria

To be considered, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  • The applicant’s family must be a paid member of the Maine East High School Athletic Booster Club for all four years the student has attended Maine East.

    • Students who transfer into Maine East must have Booster Club membership beginning their first year of attendance through senior year.

  • The applicant must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

    • GPA will be verified by the applicant’s guidance counselor after submission of the application.

  • The applicant and/or parent/guardian must have volunteered a minimum of four (4) hours per year with the Maine East Athletic Boosters for each year the student has attended Maine East (beginning with the Class of 2024 and beyond).

  • The applicant must be able to use the scholarship during the next calendar year.

  • The applicant will be ineligible to receive the scholarship if, at the time the award is presented, they have accepted a full-ride scholarship (including tuition, room and board, and books) from a college, university, or trade/technical school, per NCAA guidelines.

Financial need is not a consideration for this scholarship.

Required Application Materials

Applicants must submit the following materials, which will serve as the basis for selection:

  • Completed Scholarship Application

  • Coach’s Recommendation
    A recommendation form must be completed by a coach. The Maine East High School Athletic Boosters (MEHSAB) will send the coach a link to complete the form.
    It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure the coach submits the completed recommendation.

  • Character Reference
    One reference from a member of the Maine East faculty or staff who did not serve as the applicant’s coach. The reference should support the student’s qualifications for the scholarship.
    MEHSAB will send a link to the selected faculty/staff member to complete the form. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure the form is submitted.

  • Applicant Essay
    The essay must be completed within the application (2,000-character limit) and should address the provided prompt.

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be evaluated based on the following:

  • Athletic Participation and Achievements
    Athletic involvement, leadership roles, and accomplishments.

  • Contribution to Team and Character
    Teamwork, support of teammates, sportsmanship (including attitude toward teammates, coaches, officials, equipment, and spectators), commitment to excellence, dedication, preparation, and leadership.

  • Non-Athletic Involvement and Achievements
    School activities, awards, leadership roles outside of athletics, and community involvement/service.

  • Essay Quality
    How effectively the essay addresses the prompt and reflects the criteria of the scholarship.

Application Deadline

Completed applications and all required materials must be submitted by noon on Friday, April 17, 2026.

It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all materials are complete and submitted on time.
